Our first Project - Gudimalla School

Z.P.S.School in Gudimalla, Khammam District of Andhra Pradesh with the current strength of 300 students was seemed to be desperately in need of classroom furniture more than the un-levelled school premises or drinking water facilities. Although few developmental activities like constructing classrooms, water tanks were done by the kind and motivated villagers, the school was unable to raise some fund for buying furniture, which turned to be a primary need. Considering the need of the school, one of our AIMS members Mr.Lax Chepuri perceived it as a project, worth giving a try . All the formalities are taken up , shaped up to a fine proposal, submitted to AIMS and Hurray !!

We got it approved now. "The first project of little drops", being successfully started.

The approved money of total INR 2.5 Lakhs is sent to local NGO, who is responsible for the project execution, followed by tracking of work to completion from Little drops side.
Congrats to all the fund-raisers and contributors !!

We will Keep you all posted with more details and updates as and when we have it from the project site.

Littledrops Volunteer Meetup - 30th April 2011

It was a cool Saturday morning and the very first littledrops volunteer meetup just happened. The meeting place was Centennial Park, Ellicot city, MD which was a very beautiful spot by itself. A beautiful lake surround by a trial which was approximately 3 miles. It was a first face to face meet up for some of us and we had the opportunity to fix a face value for each name. We started doing the trial and there were some grumbling for some of the first time walkers in a trail. We completed the trail in about an hour and half. It was a brisk walking passing by pro runners, group exercisers and rookie’s….

Of course a volunteer meetup needs some refreshments….and voila there were doughnuts. I know!!! We went for an early morning fitness walk and had doughnuts!! Duh!! The enthusiasm was felt around the group and it dawned that a volunteer meetup could be so refreshing. The birth of little drops was shared for a few of the new comers and it was indeed a great gathering and hopefully expecting for more meetups to be happening periodically in the near future….

We are growing !

The number 10000 looks big, but it is possible to achieve with a simple Math: 10 x 10 x 10 x 10. Ten volunteers brings 10 more each and hence the number grows. More the Vounteers, more the contacts and more possible donors.

The Volunteer count was initially 27 and raised to 42 by the launch of our website and today it is 70. And the important donor count that was expected is hitting Silver Jubilee. Thanks to all the Volunteers who took the responsibility to bring in more Volunteers and donors.

We have also added in few other facilities recently. Its time to share the world about our presence and perseverance !

So, Little drops - No dieting at any time, lets all grow in size. Cheers !

'Twas on April 14th

Well begun is half done. Yes it is well begun. The day April 14th dawned with the hope of launching the website www.littledropsindia.org. The story was quite interesting though. A team of 7-8 people were working for the almost three weeks to proudly own a page ourselves. Everyone of the team realised that we are in a serious action than just dreaming. This website launch is also an onsite-offshore project, where partial development happened in India and testing happened in USA and UK. Conference calls, email threads, direct discussions about the development of the Logo, Layout, Caption, domain name, content, Menu, Picture and what else?  When it comes to either contribution or the Ideas, its worth a stamp, "Little Drops are the best". The only tough time was choosing a better idea among the best.

The first week rolled out to be discussion-ful whereas the second was full of negotiations and Yes, No's and approvals from AIMS. The third week was a silent fire added with a boost of one another's pushing. When all the actions were planned, there was a little delay in execution of it. But the hope of the team broke all the hurdles and the website was launched as planned; The first milestone in the flow of little Drops is reached. However we name it , Like the Kindergarten stories, the day ended "Ever happily" a wonderful start for everyone. The night was bright too !!

Dollar and Scholar - How?

AIMS India organization, is a group with 200+ members raising funds in US for serving several needy projects in India. They have done nearly hundred projects like construction of rural hospital, school toilets, computer center for schools, training for govt school teachers, donating cattles, small grocery shops, and many more. AIMS runs by the fund collected by the involved members from across USA (mostly). The requirement of a specific project in their native can be given by any member and AIMS checks the genuineness of the proposal and approves funds. The project then gets executed by the person who came with the proposal. The transparency of AIMS is such that the accounting of all the projects are done publicly that they take care every single dollar goes to the people in real need.

Here comes Little drops, a part of AIMS India, which hopes things are possible with a model "A dollar a month" . As the model literally means, members can donate a dollar a month summing up 12$ for a year, which finally serves for people who are looking for help. Little Drops targets for 10,000 members donating for AIMS, which could be calculated 1$ x 12 months x 45 Rs x 10000 people = 54 Lakh Indian Rupees per year. This is what is visualized as 'Siruthuli Peruvellam' (small drops collects to flow into a bigger river/ocean). The collected money will be non-profitably utilized by AIMS for the projects in India.
